Arteta Steering the Ship Back on Course - Depends on Winning the Europa League.

Can arsenal be seen as a team back in the ascendency, or are arsenal fans and pundits easily pleased. I think the latter can be said of those that love seeing Arsenal move forward, only well knowing that they will crash and tumble back to mediocrity. The only true proof of Arsenal being back in the ascendency, will be to achieve what the club has not achieved since 1994 and win another European competition.

The recent success against Slavia Prague in the Europa League Quarter Final Second Leg, should be seen as a inevitable result. Especially when taken into consideration the massive gulf in quality and personnel between the two teams. However after the first leg Arsenal left the result in doubt. This is not because Arsenal drew, and capitulated an away goal in the final minutes of the game but the performance was a stinky affair that Arsenal fans and media pundits have gasped for breath time and time again this season.

Despite the stinky performance, against Liverpool in the Premier league and Slavia Prague in the Europa League, you can see a Arsenal team emerging out of the cloudy stink that often surrounds the club. A team is emerging, that has the foundations of a Team built on stability and strength of youth and experience. The hallmarks of a togetherness, of being happy to play together and go to battle on the pitch. There is now a consistency of performance when the team is gelled together with the right players.

This often includes the young guns, that have been produced from the Arsene generation of youth players. Including the likes of Emile Smith Rowe, Bukary Saka. With a sprinkle of sparkle from Emery’s Pepe, Tierney and of the previous generation of the stalwarts Auba or Lacazette. There has been a unprecedented overhaul of arsenal players this season and this is coined as the ‘Arteta and Edu Project’.

A project that cannot be deduced as a success or failure yet, but ultimately many people will judge that on if Arteta and Arsenal manage to lift the Europa League Crown. Especially as Arsenal are definitely likely to finish outside of Champions League contention next season, and very likely to miss European qualification entirely through their poor season in the Premier League.
