Be Kind, make the world happy, kindness is a pleasure for all.

An act of kindness, does not cost a thing but brings about so much good.

I was standing with my wife in High Street Kensington, in some clothes shop browsing stuff I had no interest in. Passing time while my wife meandered through the countless clothes aisles in some high street retailer, taking her time and being very thoughtful like it was the most important activity in the world. I do not remember the name of the retailer, however, I vividly recall the moment my mobile rang, the number displayed was my wife’s name. Yes, it is her name, and not wifey, or babes as that’s just not my style. I am a bit too conservative, boring or whatever else you will like to call it.

I looked at my wife and said why you calling me, we can just talk face to face you know. My wife looked at my face confused initially, which quickly turned into a not so pleasant look as she realized my sarcastic tone. She looked in her pocket, and then the bag and I could see she actually couldn’t find her mobile. So I answered the phone, not sure what to expect.

To my surprise, it was a young man’s voice, who was nervously explaining that he found this mobile on the floor and unlocked it. The pin was not very secure or safe. I will not tell you what it was, but I imagine you can guess what it is when he said he unlocked the mobile device on the first attempt! I looked at the ‘wifey,’ with a look of we will have words about this later but relieved that the mobile had been found by what seemed like a good guy who just wanted to return the mobile device to the rightful owner, and not delve into more sinister activity with it.

He informed us that he was waiting for us at the front of the entrance to Holland Park, on Kensington High Street, and we should head that way as soon as we can to retrieve the mobile. As we approached the gate, I called my wife’s mobile and the man who had found the mobile was answering the lost mobile, standing next to his partner who was smiling nervously. I could see from their body language and facial expressions they were pleased to help us reunite with our mobile device. It was a small act of kindness, that brought much relief and joy to our family and if this had fallen into the wrong hands it could have caused so much dismay and sadness.

I know there are good and bad, righteous and evil or pleasant and despicable people out there. However, I, implore you and believe you should act on that first impulse of yours. That innate impulse I believe is to do good, righteous and to do pleasant actions that have a positive effect on you and to those around you. This creates a feeling we find pleasing and comforting for everyone, so don’t overthink the situation when you next find something on the floor that does not belong to you or when you have an opportunity to help someone. Instead instantly do the thing you would like to happen to you if someone found your mobile device on the floor, or if you needed help to do something.

An act of selfishness brings about so much sadness.

Imagine how my wife and children felt when one day something happened in which we experienced something that resulted in us not being so fortunate. My wife had visited the local Tesco express and done some shopping, however after packing the shopping and kids into the car. The kids who were two and four years of age at the time, and whoever has children knows how difficult it is handling kids of this age and how easy it can be to forget something or make a mistake. Well, in this case, the ‘wifey’ left the buggy behind and unfortunately drove off, without realizing she was ditching the lovely and useful Buagaboo buggy.

I know this because ‘the wifey’ was proud of her choice of the buggy and was attached to the pram, as you get sentimental of these worldly goods because it brings memories of the time you had with your children in your various activities and trips with them.

The person who found this stranded buggy did not have any concern regarding this sentimental attachment or care towards the person who had forgotten the buggy. Instead all, they probably cared for was the benefit this item could now bring them. This act of selfishness, greed or disregard for other people’s property is unnecessary and should be avoided because it brings about harm. Even if you benefited by saying for example selling the item, you prospered on some else’s misery and torment. Surely if you did this knowingly, or ignoring this possible effect shows the person you have become. I suggest you should question how you became like this, and what you should be looking to change this, as you were not I believe born like this. This is a result of socialization in society and upbringing. Its never too late to change, and all you need to realize is we are all capable of good and like to make others happy and not miserable.

Being kind makes you feel good, it brings about this Warm and fuzzy feeling inside, and I think this is from seeing or knowing that you have influenced the other person feel good. These acts of kindness change the direction of a person from hugging your child with love and affection when they ask you to, by a kind gesture of love towards your wife, or helping a parent with a buggy up the stairs of a train station to even assisting a passenger with their luggage upstairs. I always love the response I get from my boys, when they ask me a bedtime story, and instead of saying sorry I am busy tonight I say of course I can. Never hesitate in the future when you see an opportunity to be kind to others do what’s in your heart, and you know your first instinct is to help and to be kind. So just do it, and don’t overthink it or let external influences change your mind. If we all attempted to be kind as our first response, the world would be a better place for all of us.
